Here's another ink wash test, this time with some pencil texture underneath.

This is a little family of lechuguilla plants in our garden. All the scribbles of pointy bunches in the backgrounds of the episodes of Jack are meant to be lechuguillas.

They aren't cacti, but agaves, closely related to the plant used to make tequila. Lechuguilla is considered the "indicator plant" of the Chihuahuan Desert (where our story takes place), meaning that if you come across this plant occurring naturally, it's a safe bet you're in the Chihuahuan Desert. I love them because when you come across a bunch of them out in the desert, the little ones look like little monster muppet hands clawing their way up from underground. So CUTE!
